Choose a base around your movements, not just a beautiful photo. Where are your appointments? Will you work, visit cultural places or spend time near the ocean? Put those wishes on the map before fixing your schedule. Leydimen does not rank neighbourhoods by safety or book accommodation: check the conditions of your specific address separately.

Two areas, several days

As a starting point, separate wishes around the centre and Gorée from those toward Ngor and Almadies. This is an editorial framework to reduce backtracking, not an estimate of travel times. Let an island outing anchor its day. A walk and a chosen pause can complete the plan without another long crossing of Dakar.

Build small routines

Return to the same bakery, ask for a dish suggestion or make time for a conversation when someone is available. No single resident represents “local life”. Avoid treating everyday scenes as an attraction; let encounters grow in places where your presence is welcome. For a weekend, choose a shared intention instead of a succession of addresses.
