Prepare your trip

Get around without spending the day in transit.

Airport, taxis, islands and regional transfers: organise the journeys that matter.

On arrival: a clear meeting point

Blaise-Diagne International Airport is the arrival point to check on your ticket. The airport website outlines taxi and bus options; check current arrangements before departure. Our advice: agree the meeting point, total price, luggage and payment with your transport provider. Keep their contact offline and allow a buffer between landing and any other appointment.

Explore Dakar by area

Group visits by neighbourhood and avoid repeatedly travelling between Plateau and the western peninsula. In a taxi, show an address and recognisable landmark, then agree the fare before leaving. A short map distance is not a travel time. Keep intercity travel to daylight hours, in line with Canadian advice, and give transfer days room to breathe.

Confirm every crossing

For Gorée or Ngor, check the departure point, sea conditions and final return before committing. Avoid pairing an island outing with an international flight on the same day. Our durations are suggested visiting time, excluding transfers. At Somone or Saloum, an area marker is not a landing stage: ask your local contact for the exact meeting point.
